Eliza, I rented the EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM, from lensrentals.com. I liked it a lot. Once I fill in other gaps in my lens lineup I’d more seriously consider it. In particular I need a wide or mid zoom f/2.8 like the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 or the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L.
Of course, the new EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM does complicate matters.

Ooo, nice. Macro work is amongst my favourite. If I could I think I would shoot exclusively macro images. These are beautiful.

I am seriously thinking about getting the new macro lens. It would also make a great portrait lens. Considering my 70-200mm is a 4.0 the 2.8 would be a nice upgrade. Great shots!

I love that lens… don’t actually own it myself, but it was a dream when I borrowed it!
On my list of wants. Haven’t tried it yet. I use the canon extension tubes but they don’t compare to the consistancy that I see from images posted with this lens.
Wow, this kinda makes me think that I should get a 100mm USM. Awesome details that you couldn’t catch any other way.
